A nice little montage of McCain’s blunders. PS, McCain graduated 894th out of 899 at the Naval Academy. This is what we need, another fumbling, dumbass Prez. Why is America so scared of having a president who is actually more intelligent than they are? Isn’t that a good thing? Why would you want an “average guy” running the country?

Great video for YACHT’s “Summer Song”. This jam was a “love letter” to LCD Soundsystem which proved quite effective as they got signed to DFA. Newayz, they are def my favorite “genre-and-media spanning life project” whatever that means. I caught them live when they were in town with Vampire Weekend. Also, their blog is usually pretty interesting too.

We Are Scientists - Let’s See It

If you recall, I saw We Are Scientists a couple weeks ago and was quite impressed with their live show. I mentioned how I hadn’t heard their new album Brain Thrust Mastery yet, but dug what they played from it that night. Newayz, thankfully I checked it out because “Let’s See It” may have my favorite guitar riff of the year so far. SO damn catchy. It’s the first part of the song, so press play if you know what’s good for you. We Are Scientists are so up my alley it hurts…wow…that was such a gross phrase…anyways, they are definitely my favorite type of band; catchy indie rock. Plus, Scott thinks Keith (above right) is super hot, which must count for something. If I remember correctly his acknowledgement of desires for Keith began with “I’m a pretty heterosexual guy but…”

There’s a really good interview with Conor Oberst in the latest Filter (scans here). Filter is probably my favorite music magazine, the design is great (photos, typography, the whole shebang), and they seem like actual writers instead of music journalists. Plus, it helps that they aren’t mainstream and at the same time don’t stare downt their nose at you with artists that clearly don’t deserve magazine articles written about them. Newayz, I found the following interesting:

I always feel optimistic when I change scenes. I don’t stay anywhere more than a month or two at a time, so I’ve developed this way of starting over every time I go to a new place. I guess it has its disadvantages, too, but for now it’s working out.

I bet if we were next door neighbors he would stay forever. We could have neighborly barbeques, stay up late playing video games, go on family vacations together, watch the office together every week. Man, it would be the life.
